Introduction : Turning a Personal Concern into a Public Mission

Himanshu Gupta, a former Audit & Assurance professional at EY, and his elder brother Yogesh Gupta turned a family challenge—high medicine costs—into a powerful mission: to make affordable, quality healthcare accessible through generic medicines.

In 2013, their family opened the first Jeevan Rekha Medical Store in Faridabad, Haryana, inspired by the Jan Aushadhi Kendra initiative. Initially managed by their father and later taken over by Yogesh Gupta due to health-related responsibilities in the family

At first, people didn't trust generic medicines much. But the brothers held a long term vision. In 2018, Himanshu quit his corporate job to work with Yogesh in their business full-time. Now, they manage 11 pharmacies in Faridabad.

Initial Challenges and Quest for Better Software

  • Stock Transfer Management: No stock transfer feature in the outdated software required double manual entry at warehouse and branches; time-consuming and tedious.
  • Inefficient Billing: Manual entries caused batch mismatches, requiring correction during billing and resulting in longer customer wait times.
  • Increased Non-Moving Stock: Slow-moving items piled up in one store while the same products were in demand at others—leading to expiry losses and customer bounce.
  • Alternative Medicines: Staff struggled to find the alternatives of the branded medicines asked by the patient.
  • No Flexibility in Reporting: Mr. Himanshu had to rely on staff for the reports; monitoring multiple stores was inefficient.

Tired and frustrated, Mr. Gupta began the search for a new software solution. He spent 6 months evaluating different options and had almost finalized another system when he came across eVitalRx and decided to give it a chance.

Solutions Offered with eVitalRx

Centralized Catalog

Optimized Purchase Orders

Optimized Purchase Orders

Since the stores operate on generics, when branches send purchase order (PO) requests, the warehouse can fulfill them by converting products to available alternatives in stock on the basis of salt content.

Monitoring and Reports

Monitoring and Reports

A smart dashboard and monitoring chart provide a single view of all store performance, and all branch reports can be accessed from one place.

Non-moving stock is scanned at one branch, & the system suggests the fastest moving store for stock transfer -reducing expiry losses and customer bounce.

Smooth Implementation: From Hesitation to Execution

Mr. Himanshu found the perfect software for his requirements, but he was initially concerned about transitioning to a completely new system and training a staff of 60.

The data migration for six stores was completed overnight. This involved extracting data from the previous software, cleaning it by removing expired products and items in negative stock, and completing the final migration smoothly.

eVitalRx provided hands-on training for the staff until they felt confident using the software.

  • Customer checkout times improved significantly

  • 6 new storeslaunched in just 2 years after adopting eVitalRx
